Statutory audit and assurance services are provided by our firm in accordance with International Standards on Auditing (ISA) whilst taking into account legislative requirements and latest pronouncements on accounting issues including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). In order to ensure that our staff is fully up to date with professional pronouncement, we have set up a Technical Department headed by a Partner who has the responsibility to access all technical publications and disseminate knowledge, training and skill development amongst staff.
Our audit methodology is in line with HLB Audit Manual which is published for the exclusive use of member firms and we make use of CASEWARE Audit Software, a powerful Canadian Software to compile audit working papers and analyses. The software has embedded facilities for Audit Planning, work control and analytical review procedures. Our staffs are also very conversant with Data Mining software for statistical tests.
Internal Audit assignments are performed in our firm by professionals with an in-depth understanding of business culture, systems, and processes. It is an activity which provides assurance that internal controls in place are adequate to mitigate the risks, governance processes are effective and efficient, and organizational goals and objectives are met.
Our firm is a registered member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and we follow Internal Audit Standards set by the IIA and pronouncements made by the ‘Committee of Sponsoring Organisations’ (COSO) as well as Quality Assurance guidance provided in ISO 27000.
Our approach is essentially systematic and practical and our dedicated risk management specialists have significant experience in advising companies on ways to enhance their risk management and internal control systems.
We also perform contractual and private audits which include insurance claim assessment, forensic works and specific preventive Income Tax and VAT audits, personal wealth audit and the audit of usage of funds by local organizations advanced by International Funding Agencies.
Our firm runs a specialist Tax Department which provides advanced tax planning services, compliance services including end of month/year formalities for Income Tax and VAT, as well as full investigation services. Our Tax Experts advise clients on the relevant applications of Double Taxation Agreement and we handle representations before the Tax Review Committee and the Court of Appeal the Supreme Court of Mauritius.
