History
The firm started business on 1 January 1989 in the city of Port Louis, Mauritius. Founder member, L. Clensy Appavoo, had a new vision on how to serve the business community and he set up a small firm named ‘Appavoo & Associates’ which offered Accountancy, Audit and Taxation services. It all started from there and over the years, the firm graduated from a small business unit into one of the biggest firms of Accountants and Consultants in Mauritius with an international dimension.HLB Appavoo & Associates provides a wide range of services to clients based on the philosophy: ‘Adding Value to business irrespective of size and complexity’.
The firm is licensed by the local Financial Reporting Council (FRC) to provide statutory audit services to large clients who have to adopt International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in the preparation of their financial statements. We are also a member of the Mauritius Institute of Professional Accountants (MIPA) which is the local body which regulates practicing Accountants and Auditors.
Apart from statutory audit & assurance services, HLB Appavoo & Associates provides high value services to hundreds of large, medium and small companies, business organizations, partnerships, NGOs and sole traders. Over the years, some specialist services and business units have been developed and they have been organized into eight business clusters under Appavoo Group, a powerful business Group which specializes in ‘Finance, Management and Development’ and which operates independently from HLB Appavoo & Associates.
